Posted 19 Feb 18 in Uncategorized

Excitement builds for the national High School Career Expo in association with SABC Education.
“The High School Career Expo” (HSCE) has announced the dates for their national tour starting off in Roodeport this month. South Africa’s favourite careers exhibition is designed to provide both primary and middle school students with opportunities and guidance for choosing a high school and selecting their subjects.
For the older teenagers in attendance, the HSCE is also designed to assist and equip the youth with the necessary tools to succeed in high school, tertiary education and beyond.
“The High School Career Expo targets thousands of young individuals from all walks of life as well as their parents, education institutions, private sector businesses and even Government officials – We are excited to be rolling the expo out all over of the country and thanks SABC Education for their involvement.” says Henry from the HSCE
She goes on to add, “All primary, middle & high school kids and parents can learn more about the public & private high schools including special programs, extracurricular activities and admissions criteria. You can find out which high school is most suitable for your child’s future.”
Prospective students will be able to meet with representatives from a wide range of universities, technikons, colleges and other tertiary institutions. They will also gain insight and career advice from leading field specialists to better understand the expectations and roles of their potential professions. The Student Expo aims to feed students with valuable knowledge to make educated decisions regarding their future through discussions and presentations. Students can also learn how to secure student loan and even bursaries. They will get advice on how to manage finances when living away from home, should you take a gap year or not as well as share information with other school leavers and parents.

Press release

TOP FEARS AND WORRIES FOR BOTH STUDENT AND PARENTS

“I’ll miss you too Mom”, and off they go to start a new life on their own.

As parents we have spent years nurturing and guiding our children to reach this stage in life, yet the fears stack up. Some of the top fears parents have, are the perils of 24/7 freedom, suitable accommodation, students safety and of course not being able to keep up with tuition expenses.

The transition from High School to College is more than just going back to school. Students have concerns about fitting in, choosing a major, not meeting academic standards, money troubles and maybe not liking the institution.

Student-Expo has created the ideal environment for parents and student to gather information, speak to leading Companies and Institutions. Have fun exploring alternative study options, accommodation, transport, and in depth career advice. This interactive environment, together with your child can alleviate many concerns and lay a platform for creative problem solving

Student Expo allows you to view all options and avenues, with experienced professionals to guide and advise.

There is something for everyone when spending the day at the Student Expo.

Come and join in, on 31st August to 3 September 2013, East London, Hemmingway.

Bring your family and friends for more information go to: www. Student-expo.com

Tickets are being sold at a cost of R30 each and are available from Webtickets (www.webtickets.co.za)

Should you require any further information, please visit the website: www.student-expo.com or call us on 0861 22 22 41

Port Elizabeth Student-Expo 19 & 20 July 2013

Posted 27 Jun 13 in Event News Uncategorized

After a succesful expo in Durban, were busy working on the next expo in Port Elizabeth at The Feather Market Centre on the 19th and 20th of July 2013.

This expo will be bigger and better as it’s the first time were hosting the expo in Port Elizabeth.

Come join us for a day filled with educatinal venture and decide where you would like to be in the year 2014.

Concerned Parents

Posted 19 Apr 13 in Uncategorized

Being a parent, your child’s education is always a constant concern. I am sure that almost all parents out there feel the same way, especially when it gets closer to the point where you need to assist your children in making large life decisions

These days there are so many options – maybe even too many! The more research you do online, the more it feels like an information overload.

I heard about the ‘Student Expo’ from a friend of mine and decided that I would go and see what exciting options it had to offer.

The Student expo was a great experience, we got to talk to different Universities as well as Colleges from around the Country. Great alternative options were on offer like Flying Schools and Maritime Colleges.

The question is whether or not to take a gap year? Skilled exhibitors at the expo are experts in their field that can give you their opinions. You can then decide to way up the pros and cons

Not only were there education institutions, but also estate agents and other organizations that focus on Student accommodation, they can help you to find accommodation for your children near the campuses. As well as different zones where you can find the perfect student car, Gadgets such as laptops and other necessary items for studying away from home. All the banks are there to sign you up for a student loan, just make sure you bring along your ID.

The next expos are happening soon

Cape Town – 17th and 18th May @ CTICC (Fri 9am – 7pm & Sat 9am – 4pm)

Johannesburg – 31st May and 1st June @ Gallagher Convention centre (Fri 9am – 7pm & Sat 9am – 4pm)

Durban – 21st and 22nd June @ Gateway Wave House (Fri 9am – 7pm & Sat 9am – 4pm)

Port Elizabeth – 19th and 20th July @ Feather market centre (Fri 9am – 7pm & Sat 9am – 4pm)

There are other school expos out there, but often they happen during school hours which exclude the parents and every day your child comes home with a different flyer from another college or institution which can be quiet confusing as they often offer all the same things and you don’t know which one to choose. Student expo is a unique concept as you find all the different aspects of student life in one place & you as a parent experience this together with your child!

We have a ‘Power Hour’ which focuses on one particular field & experts in that field talk to the attendees about why they love what they do and where the specific careers can take you, and how to get to where they are
